As requested by Youmakemesick321 and many, many…MANY…others, a rap remix to Skrillex’s “First of the Year (Equinox). I tried to encompass my lyrics around the title and the music video, and decided to write about the cycle of growing up into adulthood. I thought it fit pretty well. Please comment, share, and subscribe! and check out my new original song on youtube.com/nonelikejoshuamusic

Full lyrics:

Maybe you
Never saw the cycle ever bend but
I made it through
Another year of finding who I am and
I say I do
Understand the life and the death of the
One that I began and the one that I will end so I
Say to you
This is when the monsters will defend when you
Change into
Adults, from a child to a man or a
Lady too
Never sure of what appears
Protect yourself with a shield
From the birth to
Every first of the year

-nobody’s looking out for you
-The crooked and the fallible
-You know they’re coming after you
-So tell me what you’re gonna do?

-You’re not a child anymore
-You know the silence is abhorred
-You’re not a child anymore
-And now it’s time to fight the war like

This is the for all of the boys and girls that would never grow up
Changing the way we used to live our lives, that’s enough
the poisonous world and the villains will never be able to know us
You don’t know us

Maybe you
Had the thought the world would bring us to our knees
Played it cool
As we grew into what we were meant to be the
Days are through
When we cursed the tears
That we shed
through our fears
Now it ends
At the first of the year it begins

-nobody’s looking out for you
-The crooked and the fallible
-You know they’re coming after you
-So tell me what you’re gonna do?

-You’re not a child anymore
-You know the silence is abhorred
-You’re not a child anymore
-And now it’s time to fight the war like

This is the for all of the boys and girls that would never grow up
Changing the way we used to live our lives, that’s enough
the poisonous world and the villains will never be able to know us
You don’t know us

You’re not a child anymore
